Wales Government Minister Urged to Act over Metro & City Region
Cardiff Civic Society has today (25 March 2015) written to Edwina Hart, minister for Economy, Science and Transport urging her to approve the south east Wales metro project. David Eggleton, on behalf of the CCS LDP team, urged:
“…the Metro project is approved, or at least those key elements of it referenced above, and the essential details are published before the end of April to allow the Cardiff LDP to include them in the final version to be ratified by your inspector.
“…delay beyond this date would make the LDP all but obsolete as the delivery agreement dates need to be observed.”.
CC has for the past six years been contributing to the Cardiff Local Development Plan and recently attended many of the hearings examining the soundness of the Deposit LDP. This document summarises the issues that have yet to be resolved in this process. Any delay in identifying the route of the se wales metro will lead to planning applications in Cardiff that
“deny us the opportunity of the rail based mass transit system so desperately needed by the city.”
