Love Parks Week.
Celebrate your local park during Love Parks Week – July 15-24.
The Love Parks charity is running its 10th Love Parks Week – aimed at raising awareness of the importance of parks, gardens and other urban green spaces.
To mark the tenth anniversary of Love Parks Week, there will be a ‘Do a Love Parks Mile’ – this involves the local community coming together and covering a mile in distance either within a park, or starting or ending at a green space. People don’t have to run the mile, they can walk, walk the dog, push the pram, cycle, hop, litter-pick, go in fancy dress, however they want to complete a mile.
Events will be happening throughout the UK – ranging from open-air theatre and cinema, to outdoor fitness sessions; children’s activities to garden parties and much more. The diversity of events mirrors the broad range of ways our parks are used throughout the year, and showcase all the activities that can be enjoyed in green spaces.
Love Parks’ manager Anthea Thomas said, “We are really excited about the hundreds of events that are being organised all around the country to celebrate Love Parks Week, and it’s even more special as we mark the tenth year of Love Parks Week. It’s a time to really celebrate our wonderful parks and it’s great to be able to highlight them as a free and easily accessible resource for people to use to keep fit and healthy. We would like to thank all the community groups, councils and members of the public who have embraced and supported the Love Parks campaign.”
